Quick facts
| Players | 2 to 6 |
|---|---|
| Cards dealt | 13 per player |
| Length | One deal, usually a few minutes |
| Scoring | Losers score points for cards left outside valid groups |
| Settlement | Points multiplied by a fixed point value |
Point values, drop penalties and platform fees vary. Confirm them in the app before you join a table.
How it works
All three formats use the same 13-card rules, sets, sequences, jokers and declarations. If you have not read them yet, start with the Rummy guide.
- Each table has a point value, which is the money value of one point.
- You are dealt 13 cards and play a normal rummy round.
- The first player to make a valid declaration wins the deal.
- The other players score points for the cards left outside valid groups.
Scoring
- Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10 count 10 points each. Cards 2 to 9 count their face value. Jokers count 0.
- A hand without a pure sequence normally counts in full.
- A player’s score in a deal is commonly capped at 80 points.
- A wrong declaration is often charged at the cap.
- Dropping early usually costs a fixed number of points, commonly 20 for a first drop and 40 for a middle drop.
How the result is settled
Each losing player pays their points multiplied by the point value. The winner receives the total, usually after a platform fee.
Points, Pool and Deals Rummy
| Points Rummy | One deal. Winner is paid by the points of the others. |
|---|---|
| Pool Rummy | Many deals. Players drop out at a point limit (101 or 201). Last player wins. |
| Deals Rummy | A fixed number of deals. Most chips at the end wins. |
Common beginner mistakes
- Joining a table with a point value too high for your budget.
- Holding high cards too long, because losing scores add up fast.
- Declaring without a valid pure sequence.
- Playing many fast deals in a row and losing track of the total.
Risks and responsible play
Deals are quick, so a session can mean many rounds in a short time. Each loss is multiplied by the point value, and an 80-point loss at a high point value can be large.
