Objective
One card is placed face up in the centre. You bet on which side, Andar or Bahar, will receive a card of the same rank first.
How a round works
- The dealer turns up one card. This is the joker card (also called the centre card).
- Players place bets on Andar (inside) or Bahar (outside).
- The dealer deals cards one at a time, alternating between the two sides.
- The round ends when a card of the same rank as the joker card lands on a side. That side wins.
Bets and payouts
Payouts are usually close to even money, but the two sides are not always paid the same. In many versions the side that gets the first card has an edge, so the other side is paid slightly differently. Tables may also charge a commission or offer side bets with higher payouts and higher risk. Read the payout table, because it changes what a winning bet is worth.
Common myths
- “Andar is due after Bahar wins several times.” Past rounds do not affect the next one.
- “A betting system will beat the game.” No system changes the odds.
- “Someone can predict the next card.” Treat anyone offering tips or “signals” as a scam risk.
Risks and responsible play
Andar Bahar has no skill element. Each round is decided by the order of the cards, and the game’s payout rules give the house an advantage over time. Rounds are fast, so losses can add up quickly.
